You have selected your toddler’s first bike. It is a sweet sassy little number complete with racing stripes and a bell. It is only 18 inches off of the ground. After the frenzied research and purchase is complete don’t be tempted to think your job is done. Dreams of Christmas morning watching your child run to the toddler bike are incomplete unless your toddler is properly equipped with a helmet and other safety gear.

As a busy mother I have tried a lot of baby equipment and accessories designed to make my life easier. If I could only recommend one piece of equipment to new mothers it would be without hesitation the baby sling (mind you disposable diapers come close).

Advent is the time period from December 1st to December 24th that identifies the days and weeks that come before Christmas. An advent calendar or wreath is used to track the season, which represents “coming” as a derivative of the Latin word “adventus.” This time period celebrates the period leading up to the birth of Christ.

The Twelve Days of Christmas is the period of time that occurs starting with Christmas day and continuing on through to the first week of January. The 12 Days of Christmas does not occur the 12 days prior to Christmas. The period before Christmas is known as Advent.

Start your Mississippi tour with a range of visits to ghostly haunts such as the Ghosts and Legends tour in Columbus or the “Candlelight Ghost Tour during Halloween Week in Vicksburg. This should give you something to think about as you make a change in the direction of your tour to stop over in Noxubee and see the jail that was built in 1907. This three-storied brick structure was built in the Romanesque style of architecture. It was used as a place of incarceration for seventy years before being abandoned. Then it was restored and entered into the National Register of Historic Places and declared a Mississippi Landmark. Then maybe you want to go on to Aberdeen where you can visit the Magnolia mansion which was built in 1850 as a stunning example of antebellum architecture. The mansion showcases an exquisite mahogany staircase and period furnishings for you to enjoy.

Many children are frightened of mathematics and this is very sad because mathematics can be extremely exciting and interesting. Do you like Mathematics or are you frightened by simple calculations? Can you work out simple arithmetic problems in your head? Do you foster in your child a love of mathematics and mathematical problem-solving?
